Target Information
This gene is a member of the MAGED gene family clustered on chromosome Xp11. Located in Xp11.2, a region associated with X-linked intellectual disability (XLID). Mutations in MAGED2 cause transient antenatal Bartter’s syndrome. It may also be implicated in cancers such as breast cancer and melanoma. The encoded protein relocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleoplasm during interphase and after nucleolar stress, suggesting a role in cell cycle regulation. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
