Target Information
The MAGED2 gene is a member of the MAGED gene family, clustered on chromosome Xp11. This gene is located in Xp11.2, a region associated with X-linked intellectual disability (XLID).
Mutations in this gene can cause transient antenatal Bartter’s syndrome and may be implicated in certain cancers, including breast cancer and melanoma.
The MAGED2 protein relocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleoplasm during interphase and after nucleolar stress, suggesting a role in cell cycle regulation.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
