Target Information

This gene belongs to the MAGED gene family, clustered on chromosome Xp11. The MAGED2 gene is located at Xp11.2, a region associated with X-linked intellectual disability (XLID). Mutations in MAGED2 cause transient antenatal Bartter’s syndrome. MAGED2 may also be involved in various cancers, including breast cancer and melanoma. The encoded protein relocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleoplasm during interphase and after nucleolar stress, suggesting a role in cell cycle regulation. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
