Product Specific Information

  • Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generates a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.
  • Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems by cloning antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits.
  • Advantages include:
    • Improved specificity and sensitivity
    • Lot-to-lot consistency
    • Animal origin-free formulation
    • Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is frequently activated in various tumor cells and plays key roles in cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.

Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK is associated with regulation of cell proliferation. c-Myc is essential for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development.

The c-myc oncogene (p62 c-myc) regulates normal cellular proliferation and differentiation, while deregulated expression can induce apoptosis. Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes recognize Myc-tagged fusion proteins.

Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene has been identified in several human cancers, including lung, breast, colon, and Burkitt’s lymphoma, as well as other B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders. Aberrant c-Myc expression occurs in tumors of diverse origins such as colorectal, gastric, hepatic, ovarian, and hematopoietic neoplasms.
