Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if solution is not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity-purified antibody is directed against the V5 motif and is useful for detecting overexpressed proteins containing the V5 epitope tag. It has shown reactivity with all tested V5-tagged proteins and does not cross-react with endogenous bacterial proteins in western blot. The antibody recognizes the V5 epitope tag (GKPIPNPLLGLDST) fused to either the C-terminal or potentially the N-terminal end of target proteins.
Target Information
Epitope tags are used for localization of gene products, studying protein topology and complexes, identifying associated proteins, and characterizing low-abundance or poorly immunogenic proteins when specific antibodies are not available.
The V5 epitope tag is derived from a small epitope (Pk) on the P and V proteins of the simian virus 5 (SV5). It typically includes 14 amino acids (GKPIPNPLLGLDST), though a shorter 9 amino acid version (IPNPLLGLD) may also be used.
