Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is activated in various tumor cells and plays essential roles in cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.
Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK is associated with cell proliferation and regulation.
c-Myc is crucial for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development.
The c-Myc oncogene (p62 c-Myc) regulates normal cellular proliferation and differentiation, while deregulated expression induces apoptosis in multiple cell types.
Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes recognize overexpressed proteins containing Myc epitope tags at either amino- or carboxy-termini.
Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene is implicated in several human cancers, including lung, breast, and colon carcinomas, as well as Burkitt’s lymphoma and other B-cell proliferative disorders.
Aberrant c-Myc expression has been observed in tumors of colorectal, gastric, hepatic, mammary, ovarian, pulmonary, and hematopoietic origins.
