Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is frequently activated in tumor cells and regulates cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.
Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK is associated with cell proliferation control.
c-Myc plays a key role in vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development. Deregulated c-Myc expression can induce apoptosis and is implicated in various cancers including lung, breast, and colon carcinoma, as well as Burkitt’s lymphoma.
Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes can recognize Myc-tagged fusion proteins. Amplification or translocation of the c-Myc gene is observed in multiple tumor types and hematopoietic neoplasms.
