MA5-15886 targets MMP9 in indirect ELISA, FACS, IF, IHC, and WB applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human MMP9 expressed in E. coli.
MA5-15886 detects MMP9, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 92 kDa.

Target Information

MMP9 (matrix metallopeptidase 9, GELB, CLG4B) is a matrix metalloproteinase belonging to a family of zinc- and calcium-dependent endopeptidases that degrade extracellular matrix proteins.
It is secreted as a 92 kDa zymogen; cleavage of pro-MMP9 yields the active enzyme (~82 kDa).
MMP9 contains:

• A gelatin-binding domain (three fibronectin type II units)
• A catalytic domain with a zinc-binding site
• A proline-rich type V collagen-homologous domain
• A hemopexin-like domain

MMP9 is produced by monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, keratinocytes, fibroblasts, osteoclasts, and endothelial cells.
It plays roles in inflammatory responses, tissue remodeling, wound healing, tumor growth, and metastasis.
MMP9 contributes to skin carcinogenesis and degrades type IV and V collagens.
Studies indicate involvement in IL-8-induced mobilization of hematopoietic progenitor cells (rhesus monkeys) and tumor-associated tissue remodeling (murine models).
Elevated MMP9 levels are associated with idiopathic atrial fibrillation progression and aortic aneurysm.
