Product Specific Information

The UCHT1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD3ε, a 20 kDa subunit of the TCR complex. Together with CD3γ and CD3δ, the epsilon chain is required for proper assembly, trafficking, and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes and all mature T cells.

Crosslinking of TCR via immobilized UCHT1 initiates intracellular signaling leading to cellular activation and proliferation.

Target Information

The CD3 complex transduces antigen-recognition signals into T cell cytoplasm and regulates TCR surface expression. It includes CD3γ, CD3δ, CD3ε, and CD3ζ subunits, encoded on human chromosome 11. These subunits associate with cytoplasmic signaling molecules via tyrosine-based motifs, mediating T cell activation, survival, and proliferation.

CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells. Reduced T cell percentages may occur in autoimmune diseases. Defects in CD3 genes are linked to CD3 immunodeficiency.
