Target Information

SHP-1 (PTPN6) is a non-receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase primarily expressed in hematopoietic cells.
It contains two SH2 domains, a catalytic domain, and a regulatory domain.
SHP-1 removes phosphates from target proteins, thereby downregulating several tyrosine kinase-regulated pathways.
In hematopoietic cells, SHP-1 binds to phosphorylated erythropoietin receptors (EpoR) to negatively regulate hematopoietic growth.
Overexpression in epithelial cells leads to dephosphorylation of the Ros receptor tyrosine kinase, reducing Ros-dependent proliferation.
In myeloid cells, SHP-1 associates with the IL-3R beta chain to downregulate IL-3-induced phosphorylation and proliferation.
