Target Information
DNA replication, recombination, and repair processes essential for genomic stability require the presence of exonucleases. During DNA replication, these enzymes process Okazaki fragments, while in DNA repair they excise damaged DNA fragments and correct mismatches. DNA polymerases (α, β, δ, ε) are key in these mechanisms.
DNA polymerase δ and ε are multisubunit enzymes; DNA pol δ includes subunits p125 and p50. DNA pol γ functions in mitochondrial DNA replication, while DNA pol ζ and θ participate in damage-induced mutagenesis and repair of interstrand crosslinks, respectively.
