Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have diverse functions, primarily in transcriptional activation or repression. Most zinc-finger proteins possess a Kruppel-type DNA binding domain and a KRAB domain, which interacts with KAP1 to recruit histone-modifying proteins.
HKR1 (Krueppel-related zinc finger protein 1, zinc finger protein 875) is a 659 amino acid nuclear protein involved in transcriptional regulation. It exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms and belongs to the Krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family, containing thirteen C2H2-type zinc fingers and one KRAB domain. The HKR1 gene maps to human chromosome 19q13.12.
