Servicebio® Electrophoresis System (Vertical)

1. Product Overview

Electrophoresis technology is widely used in biological research, analytical chemistry, clinical chemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, immunology, and food chemistry.
In a DC electric field, charged particles migrate toward electrodes of opposite charge, allowing separation and analysis of small molecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, enzymes, and viruses.
It is also used in immunological assays such as Hepatitis B antigen (HBAg) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) electrophoresis for diagnostic purposes.

• In-situ gel making without disassembling glass plates; compatible with pre-cast gels.

4. Operation Steps

This electrophoresis tank supports simultaneous gel preparation and running of two gels. Ensure all parts are clean and dry before use.

4.1 Preparation

a. Move both card plates to the bottom, open the cover, insert the concave and flat glass diagonally, and place them to the bottom. The upper part of the glass should fit into the card slots.

b. Lift both glands, clamp the left and right card plates upward until a click sound is heard.

Notice:
Before starting, ensure concave and flat glass are aligned, fully seated, and all pressure plates and buckles are locked.

c. After alignment, unscrew the knobs on both sides of the gel base, place the electrophoresis support in the center, press down, and tighten the knobs.

Note: The electrophoresis stand can be installed on either side.

4.2 Gel Making

Inject the prepared gel solution between the glass plates (2/3–3/4 height). Add double-distilled water or ethanol carefully to seal and remove bubbles.
Let stand 20–60 min for polymerization, then remove the liquid and clean with absorbent paper.
Add stacking gel to the top, insert the comb, and allow 30–45 min for complete polymerization.

4.3 Sample Loading

Rotate knobs to remove the electrophoresis support and place it into the tank. Align the buckle and anti-reverse column at a 20° angle (red = positive, black = negative).

Add electrophoresis buffer to the main cavity up to the top edge of the concave glass. Remove the comb, check wells for bubbles, and load samples as required.

4.4 Electrophoresis

Cover the lid according to electrode polarity (red = positive, black = negative). Connect to the power supply and set appropriate voltage/current based on experimental needs.

Precautions

1. Handle with care; glass components are fragile.
2. Inspect metal parts (platinum wire, electrodes) for oxidation or damage; replace as needed.
3. Clean with deionized water after use and store in a dust-free environment.
