Product Specific Information

  • 1 µg/mL of MA5-45569 detects Dicer in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
  • Detects approximately 215 kDa.
  • This antibody was formerly sold as clone S167-7.

Target Information

Dicer is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) endoribonuclease central to short dsRNA-mediated post-transcriptional gene silencing. It cleaves long dsRNAs and pre-miRNAs into 21–23 nucleotide fragments with 3′ overhangs, producing siRNAs and mature miRNAs. These guide the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to complementary RNAs for degradation or translation inhibition.
RNA interference mediated by siRNAs eliminates transcripts from mobile and repetitive DNA elements and degrades exogenous viral RNA. The miRNA pathway regulates specific gene expression.
