Product Specific Information

1 µg/mL of MA5-45568 was sufficient for detection of Dicer in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 215 kDa.
This antibody was formerly sold as clone S167-7.

Target Information

Dicer is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) endoribonuclease that plays a central role in short dsRNA-mediated post-transcriptional gene silencing. It cleaves long dsRNAs and pre-microRNAs (miRNA) into fragments of 21–23 nucleotides with 3′ overhangs, producing siRNAs and mature miRNAs. These guide the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to complementary RNAs to degrade them or inhibit translation.
RNA interference via siRNAs regulates transcript elimination from repetitive DNA elements and viral RNA degradation, while the miRNA pathway specifically regulates target gene expression.
