1 µg/mL of MA5-45570 was sufficient for detection of Dicer in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 215 kDa.
This antibody was formerly sold as clone S167-7.
Target Information
Dicer is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) endoribonuclease playing a central role in short dsRNA-mediated post-transcriptional gene silencing. It cleaves long dsRNAs and short hairpin pre-microRNAs (miRNAs) into fragments of 21–23 nucleotides with 3′ overhangs, producing siRNAs and mature miRNAs. These small RNAs guide the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to complementary RNAs for degradation or translational repression.
RNA interference mediated by siRNAs controls the elimination of transcripts from mobile and repetitive DNA elements and the degradation of exogenous viral RNA. The miRNA pathway specifically regulates target gene expression.
