Product Specific Information
- In sandwich ELISAs, shows less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse IL-6, recombinant human IL-6, and recombinant porcine IL-6.
- Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. The protein acts as an endogenous pyrogen, inducing fever in autoimmune diseases or infections.
It is mainly expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and activates transcriptional inflammatory responses via the IL-6 receptor alpha.
IL-6 is associated with various inflammation-related diseases such as diabetes mellitus, systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi Sarcoma, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Elevated IL-6 levels have been observed in viral infections, including COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2).
