Target Information

Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form and activated by inflammasome-mediated cleavage into a 17 kDa mature form. IL-1β plays a central role in innate immune responses by inducing other proinflammatory cytokines and acute-phase reactions.
It signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors and is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA). Elevated IL-1β levels are associated with various chronic inflammatory diseases, making IL-1β a key target for research in inflammation and immune regulation.
