Target Information
The PITX3 gene encodes a member of the RIEG/PITX homeobox family, part of the bicoid class of homeodomain proteins. These transcription factors are involved in lens formation during eye development. Mutations in PITX3 have been associated with anterior segment mesenchymal dysgenesis and congenital cataracts.
