• PA1-24782 will not react with human.
• The Neutralization Dose 50 (ND50) for anti-rat IFNG is approximately 0.08–0.2 µg/mL in the presence of 2.5 ng/mL recombinant rat IFNG, measuring protection of mouse L-929 cells from viral lysis.
• Store product as a concentrated solution. Centrifuge briefly prior to opening the vial.

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor and immune interferon produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens, mitogens, and other cytokines.
It is a dimeric glycoprotein composed of two 146 amino acid subunits (~45 kDa functional homodimer).
On SDS-PAGE, IFN gamma appears as 25, 20, and minor 15.5 kDa bands due to differential glycosylation.

Functional roles include:

• Antiviral and tumor antiproliferative activity
• Induction of class I and II MHC
• Macrophage activation
• Enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B lymphocytes
• Cytokine regulation and synergistic action with other cytokines

Activation occurs through binding of IFN gamma receptor I and II, activating the JAK-STAT pathway.
Human IFN gamma shows ~40% sequence homology with mouse IFN gamma and does not cross-react.
Gene mutations are associated with aplastic anemia.
