This monoclonal antibody (clone 1042) recognizes human collagen Type IV. Collagens are major components of the extracellular matrix providing tensile strength to tissues. Type IV collagen is restricted to the basal lamina, composed of two alpha-1 and one alpha-2-like chains, and is associated with disorders such as Alport syndrome and Goodpasture's syndrome.
Applications Reported: Suitable for immunoprecipitation, western blotting, and immunohistochemical staining of frozen (IHC-F) and formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (IHC-P) tissue sections.
Applications Tested: Tested by IHC on FFPE tissue with low pH antigen retrieval. Recommended concentration ≤ 5 µg/mL; titration advised for optimal performance.

Collagen IV is a major structural component of the basement membrane in tissues such as kidneys, lungs, and skin. It forms a network-like structure providing support and stability.
