Target Information
ACINUS (apoptotic chromatin condensation inducer in the nucleus) is a protein involved in chromatin condensation. It is cleaved by caspase-3 and another protease to generate an active peptide (p17) that induces chromatin condensation in vitro. ACINUS also induces apoptotic chromatin condensation in cells and is ubiquitously expressed. Three different spliced forms of Acinus have been identified in human and mouse.
