This peptide corresponds to 15 amino acids near the center of human AIF.
PEP-0078 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-19953.
Target Information
Apoptosis Inducing Factor (AIF) causes chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation.
AIF localizes in mitochondria and translocates to the nucleus upon apoptosis induction, releasing apoptogenic proteins such as cytochrome c and caspase-9.
AIF induces chromatin condensation and large-scale DNA fragmentation, key hallmarks of apoptosis.
It is highly conserved between human and mouse and widely expressed.
Mutations in the AIF gene cause combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 6, leading to severe mitochondrial encephalomyopathy.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, and a related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 10.
