This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of denaturated HLA-G heavy chain.
The recognized epitope is present only on HLA-G1, -G2, and -G5 molecules.
HLA-G belongs to the MHC Class I molecules (MHC Class Ib; nonclassical) and is expressed on the surface of trophoblast cells.

Target Information

HLA-G belongs to the HLA class I heavy chain paralogues.
This class I molecule is a heterodimer consisting of a heavy chain and a light chain (beta-2 microglobulin).
The heavy chain is anchored in the membrane and expressed on fetal-derived placental cells.
The heavy chain is approximately 45 kDa and its gene contains 8 exons:

1. Exon 1: Leader peptide
2. Exons 2–3: Alpha1 and Alpha2 domains (peptide binding)
3. Exon 4: Alpha3 domain
4. Exon 5: Transmembrane region
5. Exon 6: Cytoplasmic tail
