This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD45RB, a 180–240 kDa single chain type I membrane glycoprotein, variant of CD45 (CD45RB isoform).
CD45RB is expressed on subsets of T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, granulocytes, and dendritic cells.
MEM-143 is not neuraminidase sensitive like most other anti-CD45RB antibodies (including standard antibody MEM-55).
The reactivity of MEM-143 can be blocked by a peptide including amino acids 79–88.

CD45RB is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase, part of the CD45 glycoprotein family.
CD45 is crucial in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling, serving as a regulator of Src-family kinases.
It promotes cell survival by modulating integrin-mediated signal transduction and is involved in DNA fragmentation during apoptosis.
CD45 isoforms differ in extracellular domains but share identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains.
Expression varies by cell type and physiological state. CD45RB is expressed in microglia and inflammatory cells.
CD45 is expressed on human hematopoietic lineage cells except mature red cells.
