Target Information
Complex II of the respiratory chain is involved in the oxidation of succinate and electron transfer from FADH to CoQ. It consists of four nuclear-encoded subunits localized in the mitochondrial inner membrane. The iron-sulfur subunit (SDHB) is highly conserved and contains three cysteine-rich clusters that form the enzyme’s iron-sulfur centers. Mutations in this gene are associated with paragangliomas and pheochromocytoma, linking mitochondrial dysfunction to tumorigenesis.
