Target Information
FLT1 (VEGFR1) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a critical role in angiogenesis. Active angiogenesis is involved in various physiological and pathological processes such as tumor progression, diabetic retinopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, and wound healing.
It may act as a negative regulator of embryonic angiogenesis by inhibiting excessive endothelial cell proliferation. In adults, it promotes endothelial cell proliferation, survival, and angiogenesis in a cell-type-specific manner.
FLT1 has a high affinity for VEGFA but relatively low kinase activity, possibly functioning as a negative regulator of VEGFA signaling by limiting available VEGFA and preventing its binding to KDR.
