Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of PKC alpha only when phosphorylated at Ser657.
Target Information
The PKC family of serine/threonine kinases, including PRKCA (PKC alpha), is activated intracellularly by signal transduction pathways. In humans, at least 12 different PKC polypeptides have been identified, differing in structure, localization, and substrate specificity. PKC alpha, beta I, beta II, and gamma form the conventional family, which are Ca²⁺- and phospholipid-dependent.
Protein kinase C (PKC) can be activated by calcium and diacylglycerol, phosphorylating a wide range of protein targets involved in diverse signaling pathways. PKC family members also serve as receptors for phorbol esters, known tumor promoters. PKC alpha plays roles in cell adhesion, transformation, cell cycle control, and cardiac contractility regulation.
