Target Information
This gene belongs to the P-type cation transport ATPase family and encodes a protein with multiple membrane-spanning domains, an ATPase consensus sequence, hinge domain, phosphorylation site, and at least two putative copper-binding sites. The protein functions as a monomer that exports copper out of cells, including hepatic copper efflux into bile. Alternative splice variants produce isoforms with distinct localizations. Mutations in this gene are associated with Wilson disease (WD).
