Product Specific Information

  • Antibody is tested in direct ELISA (use at 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris buffer with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.

Target Information

Erythropoietin (EPO) is a growth factor essential for the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid precursors. It induces final maturation of partially differentiated erythroid cells and promotes production of red cell-specific proteins such as hemoglobin.
EPO receptor (EPOR) expression is highest in precursor cells and decreases with maturation.
In the fetus, hepatocytes are the main source of EPO; after birth, renal interstitial cells become the primary producers.
EPO expression increases during hypoxia and has been detected at low levels in lung and brain tissues.
Recent studies suggest EPO may also protect neuronal tissue and aid in repair mechanisms.
