Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris Buffer with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

Target Information

Erythropoietin (EPO) is a growth factor essential for the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid precursors. It promotes final maturation of partially differentiated erythroid cells and induces red cell-specific protein production such as hemoglobin.
EPO receptor (EPOR) levels are high in precursor cells and decrease during maturation.
During fetal development, hepatocytes are the main source of EPO, while in adults, kidney interstitial cells are predominant.
EPO expression increases under hypoxia and can also be detected at low levels in lung and brain tissue.
Recent studies suggest EPO may contribute to neuronal protection and tissue repair.
