Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris Buffer with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 min.

Target Information

Erythropoietin (EPO) is a growth factor essential for the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid precursors. It induces the final maturation of partially differentiated erythroid cells and promotes production of red cell-specific proteins such as hemoglobin.
The EPO receptor (EPOR) is highly expressed on precursor cells, with expression decreasing as cells mature. During fetal development, hepatocytes are the main source of EPO, whereas in adults it is produced by renal interstitial cells.
EPO expression increases under hypoxic conditions and may also play a role in neuronal tissue protection and repair initiation.
