Product Specific Information

  • Tested in direct ELISA (use antibody at 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
  • For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • For formalin-fixed tissues: heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris Buffer with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Erythropoietin (EPO) is a growth factor essential for the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid precursors.
It induces the final maturation of partially differentiated erythroid cells and promotes production of red cell-specific proteins such as hemoglobin.
EPO receptor (EPOR) expression is highest in precursor cells and decreases as cells mature.

Hepatocytes are the main source of EPO during fetal development, while renal interstitial cells become the primary source after birth and throughout adulthood.
EPO expression increases under hypoxic conditions, and low-level expression has been observed in lung and brain tissues.
Recent studies suggest EPO may also contribute to neuronal protection and tissue repair.
