Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
    Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature (RT).
    Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris Buffer with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.

Target Information

Erythropoietin (EPO) protein is a growth factor essential for the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid precursors.
EPO induces the final maturation of partially differentiated erythroid cells and promotes production of red cell-specific proteins such as hemoglobin.
The EPO receptor (EPOR) is highly expressed on precursor cells and decreases as cells mature.
During fetal development, hepatocytes are the main source of EPO; after birth, renal interstitial cells become the primary source.
EPO expression increases under hypoxic conditions and may also contribute to neuronal protection and repair.
