Target Information
SRC is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase and proto-oncogene involved in the regulation of embryonic development and cell growth. It associates with various cell surface receptors to facilitate signal transduction and plays roles in cytoskeletal organization, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis.
In humans, SRC is located on chromosome 20. Its activity is regulated by phosphorylation at Tyr416 (activation) and Tyr527 (inhibition). Mutations in SRC may contribute to malignant progression of colon cancer. Two transcript variants encoding the same SRC protein have been identified.
