Target Information
Neurofilaments are intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons and are essential for maintaining neuronal caliber. They are composed of three major proteins — NF-L (light), NF-M (medium), and NF-H (heavy).
NF-L is the low molecular weight subunit (~70 kDa), while NF-H runs at 180–220 kDa on SDS-PAGE.
Expression of these proteins is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated.
