Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human ATF6. Blast analysis of the immunogen sequence shows 100% identity with human and 80% identity with rat.
Target Information
ATF6 is a transcription factor involved in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response by activating unfolded protein response (UPR) target genes. It binds DNA at the ER stress response element (ERSE) and ERSE II sequences.
Binding to ERSE requires interaction with NF-Y. ATF6 forms homodimers and heterodimers with ATF6 beta and interacts with NF-YC, GTF2I, YY1, and SRF.
During ER stress, the cleaved N-terminal cytoplasmic domain translocates to the nucleus, functioning as a transcription factor. The basic domain serves as a nuclear localization signal, and the leucine-zipper domain facilitates NF-Y binding.
ATF6 is N-glycosylated, phosphorylated by MAPK14/P38MAPK, and belongs to the bZIP family.
