Target Information
The SIX6 gene encodes a homeobox protein similar to the Drosophila sine oculis gene product. It is located in a cluster of related genes on chromosome 14 and is involved in eye development. Mutations in this gene can cause isolated microphthalmia with cataract type 2 (MCOPCT2).
