Product Specific Information
- Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis:
Human, Gorilla, Gibbon, Elephant (100%); Monkey, Rabbit (94%); Marmoset, Dog (82%) - For IHC(P), use heat-induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer.
After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.
Target Information
This gene encodes a protein highly similar to mouse and rat kynurenine aminotransferase II.
The rat protein is a homodimer with two transaminase activities:
- Transamination of alpha-aminoadipic acid — final step in the saccharopine pathway (major pathway for L-lysine catabolism).
- Transamination of kynurenine — produces kynurenine acid, precursor of kynurenic acid with neuroprotective properties.
Two alternative transcripts encoding the same isoform have been identified; additional variants may exist.
