Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor composition (homo- or heterodimer) depends on the growth factor bound. The PDGFRB gene, located on chromosome 5, is flanked by genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, all possibly involved in the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with the ETV6 leukemia gene can result in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
