Bovine Serum Albumin antibody is an IgG fraction purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis.
Immunoelectrophoresis shows a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum and purified/partially purified Bovine Albumin.
Cross-reactivity with albumin from other tissues or species may occur but is not specifically determined.

Target Information

Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein constituting about half of blood serum protein. It functions primarily as a carrier for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones, and stabilizes extracellular fluid volume.
Albumin is a globular, unglycosylated serum protein (~65 kDa), synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin. The N-terminal peptide is removed before release from the rough endoplasmic reticulum, and proalbumin is cleaved in the Golgi vesicles to produce secreted albumin.
