• Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid; dilute only before immediate use.

This antibody is specific for bovine IFN gamma protein.
BLAST analysis shows 100% homology with bovine IFN gamma and 91–99% homology with yak, bison, zebu, buffalo, goat, sheep, nilgai, giraffe, Chinese forest musk deer, sika deer, red deer, Arabian camel, and Bactrian camel. Cross-reactivity with IFN gamma from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

Interferon gamma (IFN-γ, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced mainly by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens and cytokines.
It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits.
On SDS-PAGE, IFN-γ appears as 25, 20, and minor 15.5 kDa bands due to differential glycosylation.

Functions include:

• Antiviral and tumor antiproliferative activity
• Induction of MHC class I and II
• Macrophage activation
• Enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B lymphocytes
• Regulation of cytokine signaling via JAK-STAT pathway

Human IFN-γ does not cross-react with mouse IFN-γ and shows ~40% sequence homology.
Its expression is upregulated by IL2, FGF basic, EGF, and downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN.
Mutations in the IFN-γ gene are associated with aplastic anemia.
