Target Information

The RBM8A gene encodes a protein with a conserved RNA-binding motif. This protein is predominantly localized in the nucleus but also present in the cytoplasm. It associates preferentially with mRNAs produced by splicing and may serve as a marker indicating previous intron positions, thus linking pre- and post-mRNA splicing events.
RBM8B was previously thought to encode the same protein but is now considered a pseudogene. Two alternative start codons produce two protein forms, and multiple polyadenylation sites are used.
