Target Information

This gene encodes a protein with a conserved RNA-binding motif. The protein is predominantly nuclear but also present in the cytoplasm. It associates preferentially with spliced mRNAs, serving as a marker indicating previous intron positions, thereby linking pre- and post-mRNA splicing events.
RBM8B was previously thought to encode this protein, but it is now considered a pseudogene. Two alternative start codons generate two protein forms, and multiple polyadenylation sites are used.
