Target Information
Laminins are heterotrimeric extracellular glycoproteins that play critical roles in tissue development and integrity in organs such as the kidney, lung, skin, and nervous system. They mediate cell attachment, migration, and organization during embryonic development by interacting with other extracellular matrix components. The Laminin alpha-5 chain is a key component of basement membranes and belongs to the alpha subfamily of laminin chains. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
