Product Specific Information
PA1-057 detects prohormone convertase 1 (PC1) from mouse pituitary extract.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures, detecting an ~80 kDa protein representing PC1.
The immunogen sequence (S111–N127) is 88% conserved in bovine and 82% in rat.
The immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-164) is available for neutralization and control experiments.
Target Information
The PCSK1 gene encodes a subtilisin-like proprotein convertase that processes precursor proteins into biologically active forms.
This enzyme is crucial for insulin biosynthesis and cleaves proopiomelanocortin, prorenin, proenkephalin, prodynorphin, prosomatostatin, and progastrin.
Mutations in PCSK1 are linked to obesity and carcinoid tumors.
Alternative polyadenylation and splicing variants have been reported.
