CAMK4 (CaMKIV)는 serine/threonine protein kinase로서 CREB, oncoprotein 18, SRF 등을 인산화합니다. 제한된 조직 분포를 가지며, 림프구, 뉴런, 정자세포에서 전사 조절에 관여합니다. 핵 내 위치는 칼슘 의존적 유전자 발현 조절 역할과 일치합니다. 특히 고환, T-세포, 뉴런에서 풍부하며, 시냅스 가소성과 칼슘 신호 전달에 중요한 역할을 합니다. CaMKIV는 calspermin과 함께 CaMKIV 유전자에 의해 암호화되며, 생식세포의 염색질 재구성 과정에도 관여할 가능성이 있습니다.
