Target Information
Thrombomodulin (TM), also known as Fetomodulin (FM), endothelial anticoagulant protein, or glycoprotein P112, is a membrane glycoprotein expressed on endothelial cells. It contains six epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domains and a lectin-like domain. TM accelerates the activation of protein C, playing a crucial role in maintaining thrombo-resistance and preventing clot formation on endothelial surfaces. Immunohistochemical staining for TM is useful in the study of vascular tumors, meningiomas, and choriocarcinomas.
