Target Information
Chemokines are a group of small (approximately 8–14 kDa), mostly basic, structurally related molecules that regulate leukocyte trafficking through interactions with 7-transmembrane, G protein-coupled receptors.
They play essential roles in immune system development, homeostasis, and function, and influence cells of the CNS and endothelial cells involved in angiogenesis or angiostasis.
Chemokines are divided into two main subfamilies:
- CXC chemokines: first two conserved cysteines separated by one amino acid
- CC chemokines: first two conserved cysteines are adjacent
CCR10 is the receptor for CCL27; their interaction is involved in T cell-mediated skin inflammation.
