This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD10 (CALLA - Common Acute Lymphatic Leukemia Antigen), a 100 kDa type II integral membrane protein.

Target Information

CD10 (Common Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Antigen, CALLA) is a cell surface enzyme with neutral metalloendopeptidase activity that inactivates various biologically active peptides.
It is expressed on:

• Lymphoblastic, Burkitt’s, and follicular germinal center lymphoma cells
• Immature B cells in adult bone marrow
• Cells from patients with chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML)
• Breast myoepithelial cells, bile canaliculi, fibroblasts
• Brush border of kidney and gut epithelial cells

CD10 cleaves peptides at the amino side of hydrophobic residues and inactivates peptide hormones such as glucagon, enkephalins, substance P, neurotensin, oxytocin, and bradykinin.
It is a 100 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by a gene larger than 45 kb. The 5′ untranslated region undergoes alternative splicing, generating four mRNA transcripts without affecting the coding region.
Diseases associated with CD10 dysfunction include spinocerebellar ataxia 43 and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
